Mount Juliet has no city garbage service: homes hire a private hauler or use Wilson County convenience centers, open 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
Last checked Oct. 17, 2026. Facts on this page come from the City of Mt. Juliet’s Chipper Service Information page and Wilson County’s Convenience Centers and Landfill / Solid Wastes pages.
The City of Mt. Juliet does not collect household garbage. Its Public Works and Utility departments run brush pickup, sewer and stormwater, but no trash routes, so there is no city pickup day, trash cart or bill. Homes in Mount Juliet either pay a private hauler for curbside service or haul their own trash to one of seven Wilson County convenience centers. The nearest, Suggs Creek, is in Mount Juliet on Stewarts Ferry Pike.

Curbside pickup: private haulers
Pickup day, cart size, recycling and holiday delays are set by the hauler you hire, not by the city. Waste Management (WM), for one, sells residential trash and recycling service in Mount Juliet and lets new customers check availability by address on its Mt. Juliet trash pickup page. If you are moving into a home, ask the seller or your neighbors which hauler serves the street, and check your hauler’s holiday schedule before Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.

What you can bring in one visit (one visit a day): 10 bags of household garbage, plus one of the following: two pieces of furniture, two appliances, one 8-by-10 piece of carpet or rug, five pieces of lumber, 20 shingles, two boxes of miscellaneous items for the open-top dumpster, or five pieces of metal or tin.
Not allowed: box trucks, U-Hauls, enclosed trailers, partial or commercial loads, scavenging, tires and auto parts, paint, hazardous waste, yard waste, limbs, grass and fireworks. Staff may send a load to the landfill instead.
Recycling
There is no city recycling program. Every county convenience center takes:
- Cardboard
- Aluminum, tin and metal
- Refrigerators and freezers
- Batteries
- Carpet padding
- Plastic milk jugs and soda bottles (No. 1 and No. 2 only), loose and out of trash bags
The county says it does not recycle all plastic. Computers, printers, TVs, microwaves and other electronics go to the Wilson County Landfill, which recycles e-waste.
Brush and limb pickup (city chipper service)
Mt. Juliet Public Works collects brush from single-family homes with frontage on a public street. Crews work by zone, starting in Zone 1 in the south of the city and moving north to Zone 8. The city says one pass through all zones can take up to six weeks in the growing season (April through October) and often less than a week from November through March. Crews stop for rain, snow and major storms. Find your zone on the city’s chipper zone web map.
The city’s rules:
- Limbs under 15 feet long and no larger than 10 inches across.
- Pile within 10 feet of the road, never in a median and never on or blocking a sidewalk.
- No vines, loose leaves, root balls, plastic, metal or wire.
- No lot-clearing debris, whole trees or debris from commercial tree cutting.
Brush that breaks the rules is left behind.
Landfill, paint and hazardous waste
The Wilson County Landfill, 378 Dump Road in Lebanon, is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday. Loads must check in at the scale house 30 minutes before closing and must be tarped. The county lists construction and demolition waste at $18 a cubic yard, shingles at $100 a ton and small loads of residential yard waste at $5 a cubic yard, cash or local check only.
- Oil-based paint: accepted at the landfill from Wilson County residents twice a calendar year, up to one 5-gallon container, five 1-gallon containers or 20 quarts. No businesses.
- Latex paint: not accepted. Dry it out with paint hardener, cat litter or sun, then put it in regular trash.
- Kerosene, gasoline, chemicals: the Mt. Juliet Fire Department does not take them and points residents to the county’s solid waste staff.
The state’s mobile household hazardous waste truck has stopped at the Wilson County Fairgrounds in Lebanon in past years, most recently on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024. No 2026 Wilson County date had been posted when this page was checked; call the county at 615-444-8360 for the next one.
