- No fireworks within 600 feet of a church, hospital, funeral home or public or private school, or within 200 feet of where fireworks are stored or sold.
- No fireworks from a vehicle, thrown at a vehicle, or at or near people.
- No fireworks on someone else’s property without the owner’s or occupant’s permission, and none launched onto property where permission was not given.
- Stores may not sell fireworks to anyone under 18 or to anyone who seems intoxicated.
- No fireworks during a burn ban declared by the fire marshal. If a burn ban wipes out one of the allowed nights, the fire department may set and advertise a makeup day.
The city’s safety rules say anyone under 18 must have an adult with them while setting off fireworks, and no one should handle them under the influence.

New Year’s Day and after
- Trash: the City of Mt. Juliet does not collect household garbage. Check your private hauler’s New Year’s Day schedule. Wilson County’s convenience centers are normally open daily, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the county had not posted a holiday schedule. See trash and recycling.
- Schools: Wilson County Schools’ winter break runs through Jan. 1; students return Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2027, on the district’s 2026-27 calendar.
- Friday, Jan. 8, 2027: Battle of New Orleans Celebration Day at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage, about six miles west, with free grounds admission; mansion tours are at regular price.
