The Mt. Juliet Veterans Wall

The city’s Veterans Wall honors veterans with a past or present connection to Mount Juliet. Names are added each August; the 2026 deadline was Monday, Aug. 31. The city charges $3 per letter and accepts names only, not ranks. Call Parks and Recreation, 615-758-6522.

Fireworks

No Memorial Day fireworks had been announced for 2027 when this page was checked. In 2023 and 2022, the police department announced a 9 p.m. Memorial Day fireworks show from Circle P Ranch on W. Division Street near E. Main Street, presented by Needham’s Nursery and Circle P Ranch. The department said personal fireworks, alcohol, grills and parking on road shoulders and medians were not allowed. City code allows consumer fireworks only around July 4 and New Year’s Eve; see Fourth of July fireworks.

What is open and closed

  • Trash: the City of Mt. Juliet does not collect household garbage; your private hauler sets any holiday delay. Wilson County’s convenience centers are normally open daily, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; the county had not posted a holiday schedule. See trash and recycling.
  • Schools: Wilson County Schools’ last day for students is Tuesday, May 25, 2027, the week before Memorial Day, on the district’s 2026-27 calendar.
  • Ava’s Splash Pad: opens for the season Tuesday, June 1, 2027, the day after Memorial Day, on the city’s 2027 schedule. In 2026 it opened May 26.
  • Long Hunter State Park: the park office is closed on state holidays, Tennessee State Parks says.
  • City offices: the city had not posted 2027 holiday closings; call before you go.
