Police, parking and traffic

In 2025 the Mt. Juliet Police Department started Operation Safe Shopper the Friday before Thanksgiving and ran it through the new year along the Interstate 40 shopping corridor. The department said it would use:

  • More visible patrols in shopping centers
  • Plainclothes officers watching crowds
  • Mobile surveillance towers in parking lots
  • License plate reader cameras to flag stolen cars and wanted people
  • Immediate arrest and booking for shoplifters

Its advice for shoppers:

  • Lock the car and keep bags and valuables out of sight.
  • Park in well-lit areas and have your keys ready.
  • Use a card instead of carrying a lot of cash; keep a purse close and a wallet in a front pocket.
  • Teach children to find a police officer or store worker if they get separated.
  • Call police if you see something suspicious.

The 2026 plan had not been announced when this page was checked. For road work around the interchange, see road construction and closures.

What this means for you

  • No center-wide hours: check each store.
  • Teens need an adult at Providence after 5 p.m.
  • Expect more police in the parking lots from Thanksgiving week to New Year’s.
